Twitter (X) Image Size: 1600 x 900

For a single in-feed post on X (Twitter), 1600 x 900 pixels (16:9) gives the largest timeline preview with zero cropping. The link-preview card (twitter:card summary_large_image) uses 1200 x 628, and the profile header banner is 1500 x 500. Drop an image below and crop it to 1600 x 900 in your browser - nothing is uploaded.

Why 1600 x 900 (16:9)?

X timeline previews favour the 16:9 landscape ratio, so a 1600x900 image displays uncropped and sharp. Square (1200x1200) and portrait (1080x1350) posts are supported too, but multi-image and portrait layouts get cropped toward ~16:9 in the timeline.

Common mistake: A common mistake is uploading a tall portrait image expecting it to show in full. X clips portrait and multi-image posts to roughly 16:9 in the timeline, so keep the subject centered or start from a 16:9 crop.

Frequently Asked Questions

1600 x 900 pixels (16:9) for a single landscape in-feed image gives the largest preview with no cropping. 1200 x 1200 (square) and 1080 x 1350 (portrait) also work but may be trimmed toward 16:9 in the timeline.

The X link card (twitter:card = summary_large_image) uses 1200 x 628 pixels, effectively the same 1.91:1 as Open Graph. A single 1200x630 OG image scales cleanly for it.
